Ahmad Bahrami won the Best Director Award for The Wastetown.
The jury praised the film for its “ancient and universal drama told in a Shakespearean way” and highlighted its “poetic and metaphorical visual style.”
Nostalgia Film Festival. Wastetown received the Best Film Award at the Nostalgia Film Festival. It was also one of the main candidates considered by Iran’s selection committee for the Oscars, and at the Hafez Awards, the special Kiarostami Prize was presented to Ahmad Bahrami.”
